“Museum of the XXI Century and New Media Technologies: Limits of Freedom?”
International Conference
February 16-17, 2017
Conference Programme
The State Hermitage Museum is launching the fourth annual international conference devoted to pressing issues of museum life. The conference will focus on interaction between museums and new media technologies.
Integrated into museum environment, multimedia technologies expand the field of museum's activity, create new methods of conveying information to visitors, helping them to experience their visit to the museum in the most comprehensive and accessible way.
With all advantages offered by new media technologies to the museum, can anything be lost as a result of this interaction? Can any harm be done to the traditional unmediated viewing experience? Is there a limit to the expansion of the power of new media?
The following topical blocks are offered for round table discussions:
– New media technologies and museum exhibition practices
– New media technologies and museum education
– Museum PR and social networks
– Museum website as a virtual image of the museum
– Museum of the XXI century: pluses and minuses
Working Group: Sophia Kudriavceva (leader), Ekaterina Rusakova (coordinator), Daria Boldyreva (coordinator), Alexander Kiryutin (coordinator)
